Why You Aren't Closing More Deals (And How to Fix It) + 8 new UGC jobs
๐ง UGC Community #82 | December 2, 2025
We hear it all the time: "The market is saturated." "Brands aren't hiring." "My emails are going to spam."
Itโs easy to blame the algorithm, the economy, or the platform. But if we are being brutally honest, the reason most creators aren't closing deals isn't external. Itโs internal.
Sales is a numbers game. Itโs boring, repetitive, and requires thick skin. If your pipeline is dry, itโs usually because you aren't doing enough of the unglamorous work required to fill it.
Today, weโre holding up the accountability mirror. Here are the three real reasons you aren't booked solidโand the specific fixes for each.

Marketing That Moves Itself
Most measurement tools stop at telling you what happened. BlueAlpha tells you what to do next.
BlueAlpha unifies MMM, incrementality testing, and AI-driven optimization into a single continuous feedback loop. Models feed actions, actions feed models, and growth compounds.โจ
No dashboards to decipher. No manual analysis. Just weekly, campaign-level recommendations you can trust.โจ
Brands using BlueAlpha have cut CAC, saved millions in wasted spend, and unlocked double-digit growth within weeks, powered by the same team that scaled Teslaโs marketing systems.โจ
[THE DEEP DIVE] The Accountability Mirror: 3 Reasons Your Pipeline is Dry
1. The Volume Trap ("I sent 5 emails today")
Many creators send five emails, get zero replies, and decide "cold pitching doesn't work."
The Reality: The average cold email response rate is often below 8%. That means for every 100 emails you send, you might get 8 replies. If you only send 5, you are statistically guaranteed to fail.
The Fix: Stop treating pitching like a lottery ticket and start treating it like a quota. You need volume. Aim for 10-20 pitches a day, every single day.
The Tool: Need a template that actually gets opened? We shared a killer pitch template in issue #82. Use it.
2. The Follow-Up Failure ("I didn't want to be annoying")
This is the single biggest money-loser for creators. You send one pitch, hear nothing, and give up.
The Reality: Data shows that 80% of sales require at least 5 follow-ups, yet 44% of salespeople give up after just one attempt. If you aren't following up, you are leaving 80% of your potential revenue on the table.
The Fix: "Ghosting" isn't rejection; it's usually just busyness. You need a system to bump your email to the top of their inbox without being a pest.
The Tool: We broke down the exact non-annoying follow-up cadence in issue #83. Copy-paste those scripts today for every email you sent last week.
3. The Niche Hopping ("I can do anything!")
When a brand asks "What do you do?", do you answer "Everything"?
The Reality: Generalists are replaceable. Specialists are valuable. If you pitch a pet brand on Monday and a tech company on Tuesday with the same generic portfolio, neither will hire you. Brands want experts who understand their specific audience.
The Fix: Pick a lane. Commit to one niche for the next 30 days (e.g., Skincare or Pet). Tailor your entire portfolio and pitch to that niche. You will instantly look like an expert rather than a gig worker.
AI-native CRM
โWhen I first opened Attio, I instantly got the feeling this was the next generation of CRM.โ
โ Margaret Shen, Head of GTM at Modal
Attio is the AI-native CRM for modern teams. With automatic enrichment, call intelligence, AI agents, flexible workflows and more, Attio works for any business and only takes minutes to set up.
Join industry leaders like Granola, Taskrabbit, Flatfile and more.
[PRO TIP OF THE WEEK]
Use the "Snooze" button. You don't need a fancy CRM. When you send a pitch, immediately "Snooze" that sent email for 4 days. If they reply, the snooze cancels. If they don't, the email pops back into your inbox as a reminder to send Follow-Up #1. Itโs a zero-cost way to ensure no lead ever slips through the cracks.
